Wiater's "DARK DREAMERS" TV Series Sold To England's "THE HORROR CHANNEL."
(Toronto - April 4, 2005) William Alexander, President of CRiTiCAL MASS RELEASING, announced today that the initial two seasons of the original documentary series "Dark Dreamers" will soon be shown on England's The Horror Channel. The half-hour series, which was first seen nationally in Canada, will have episodes premiering every Friday night at 9:30 p.m. and repeated Saturday night at 11:30 p.m. "We are thrilled to be the first docu-series being shown in prime time on The Horror Channel of England," states Alexander, "and naturally hope to soon be seen once again on this side of the pond."
Hosted by Stoker award-winning interviewer and HWA NE Member Stanley Wiater (hailed as "the world's leading expert on horror filmmakers and authors"-- Radio-TV Interview Report and "the top horror journalist in North America"--Rue Morgue) this is, states Wiater, "The first and only show to go right to the hearts of darkness: the homes and studios of the world's greatest dark dreamers."
From legendary authors Peter Straub, Harlan Ellison, and Richard Matheson, to scream queens Julie Strain, macabre artists like Bernie Wrightson, directors such as Wes Craven, Clive Barker and Larry Cohen, special effect masters Stan Winston, or collectors supreme Forrest J. Ackerman and Bob Burns--they are all "dark dreamers." Only fellow horror writer Stanley Wiater (winner of three Bram Stoker Awards) has attained such intimate access to their lives and careers. (A third season has been shot, and includes in-home interviews with directors Mick Garris, Don Coscarielli, Stuart Gordon, Jim Wynorski, actress Brinke Stevens, and more. A fourth season is in pre-production, showcasing England's greatest dark dreamers such as Brian Lumley, James Herbert, and Christopher Lee.) Stanley Wiater, creator and host of the series, presented special showings of key episodes of "Dark Dreamers" at the World Horror Convention in New York.
