HWA New England is a regional chapter of the national association for professional horror authors, The Horror Writers Association. HWA New England functions primarily as a networking organization for local authors.

HWA New England is open to all horror authors (novel, short story, poetry) at all experience levels. Our members include full-time, mass market authors with decades of experience as well as unpublished newcomers.

Desperation Movie Update from Stephen King
Stephen King's DesperationDesperation is now being produced as a feature movie (not a miniseries) for ABC (no air date yet). It is currently being filmed in Arizona. Mick Garris, whose previous Stephen King projects include Riding the Bullet, The Stand, The Shining, Quicksilver Highway [Chattery Teeth], and Sleepwalkers, wrote the screenplay and is directing this production. Cast members include:

- Ron Perlman as Collie Entragian
- Tom Skerritt as Johnny Marinville
- Steven Weber as Steve Ames
- Matt Frewer as Ralph Carver
- Annabeth Gish as Mary Jackson
- Henry Thomas as Peter Jackson
- Charles Durning as Tom Billingsley

Jon F. Merz E-Serial of THE KENSEI
Jon F. Merz will start an e-serial for his novel, THE KENSEI, due in July 2005 from his newly created Maelstrom Books.

He'll give away prizes during the run of his e-serial and signing up is free.

New Michael Arruda Short Story Online
Michael Arruda's short story, "The Black Fog," is now available on the website DawnSky. www.dawnsky.com.

The fishing boat, The Danya, is overtaken by a huge mass of black fog that melts human flesh upon contact. Captain Travis Martin fights to save his ship and crew, though it's not the first time Captain Martin has had to look death in the face...
