HWA New England is a regional chapter of the national association for professional horror authors, The Horror Writers Association. HWA New England functions primarily as a networking organization for local authors.

HWA New England is open to all horror authors (novel, short story, poetry) at all experience levels. Our members include full-time, mass market authors with decades of experience as well as unpublished newcomers.

Five Star Publishes Two Novels by Don D'Ammassa

Five Star Books published Don D'Ammassa's mystery novel, MURDER BY SILVERPLATE, in November.

Vicki Sanders, recently promoted Quality Control Manager at Standard Silver, reports to work one day only to discover the Production Manager murdered. A few days later, the company president is found dead. Detective Walter Henderson, Vicki's father, begins his investigation. The interviews reveal a number of personality conflicts, but nothing that offers any possible solution. Vicki conducts a private investigation of her own, following leads that end up getting her nowhere. While it appears that everyone who could possibly have killed either man has an ironclad alibi, Henderson reluctantly considers the possibility that there might be two different killers. But it is Vicki who still has to work with the employees at Standard Silver, one of them possibly the killer.

They will also publish D'Ammassa's science fiction novel, HAVEN, in December 2004.

Haven by Don D'Ammassa

Wes Avery came to the planet Meadow to recuperate from a serious illness. The pastoral town of Haven seemed like just the quiet place he needed to get his strength back. That all changed when he stumbled across a body while walking in a field, a body that was mysteriously gone when he returned with a police official. Avery teams up with Dona Tharmody, a computer technician, and the two attempt to discover what happened to the dead man, and why the local authorities seem intent on concealing the truth. Their investigation leads them into danger. When Avery refuses to drop the issue even in the face of veiled threats, he and Tharmody find themselves running for their lives. They also discover that the man they believed to be an ally is actually their enemy. In a world where no one is who they seem, and alliances and betrayals can have galaxy-spanning consequences, Avery and Dona will have to use all of their wits and skill to unravel a mystery that reaches far beyond the quiet world of Meadow.
