HWA New England is a regional chapter of the national association for professional horror authors, The Horror Writers Association. HWA New England functions primarily as a networking organization for local authors.

HWA New England is open to all horror authors (novel, short story, poetry) at all experience levels. Our members include full-time, mass market authors with decades of experience as well as unpublished newcomers.

HWA NE Horror Authors Featured in Boston Phoenix Article

Several HWA NE chapter members were featured in an October 28, 2004, feature article about horror authors in New England. Chapter members in the article include John F. Merz, Christopher Golden, Rick Hautala, Holly Newstein, Paul Tremblay, and Dan Keohane. Congrates to all!

The article also prominently mentions the Horror Writers Association (national) and the New England Chapter, including a link to the chapter site http://www.horror.org/ne/). It's pretty apparent that the Boston Phoenix used HWA NE's website for some of their research and footwork. We're glad the site came in handy for them.

Hey all. Christopher Golden here. Just wanted to repeat here what I said at Shocklines.

"Folks, I just read the article and I want to say I'm QUITE dismayed at the bits of mine that actually made it into the story, and at having been misquoted.

For the record, I DID NOT SAY that I was the "Professor X of the group" in reference to HWA NE. How obnoxious would THAT be? I was talking about my new book THE NIMBLE MAN and referrring to the character Mr. Doyle as "the Professor X" of THAT group. The way she's misquoted makes me sound like a total ass. I hope John and Dan and other members of the group will pass that along to everyone. Needless to say, I'm a bit peeved.

I'm also disappointed at having spent more than two hours with the writer, during which time we talked about dozens of things, including new books, future projects, and most importantly the new wave of horror writers and the importance of the small press in the resurgence of horror, and with the small space she had for each of us, all she focused on from our conversation was how many books I've written.

Which, by the way, I DON'T know. She implies that's a put on. It isn't.

Can you tell I'm aggravated? "
